Dr. David Goldschein

Cosmetic and Family Dentist In Tampa, Florida

Dr. David Goldschein's origin traces back to Buffalo, New York, where he entered the world amid a fierce blizzard. His father, Dr. Harry Goldschein, completed his dental education at the University of Buffalo and served in the Navy with his mother, Marilyn, stationed in Orlando, Florida. Despite familial ties to a prosperous dental practice in New York City, Harry opted to establish his own practice in the sunny ambiance of Florida, shaping David's upbringing. David cherished a quintessential Florida childhood—splashing in swimming pools, nurturing gopher turtles as pets, and waterskiing amidst alligator-filled lakes.

His fascination with science blossomed in Mr. Bradley's 7th-grade class, fueling a passion for Genetics, steering him away from dentistry. Pursuing a degree in Microbiology and cell science at the University of Florida, David dedicated his senior year to research in two labs, laying the groundwork for a career in genetics research. However, his trajectory veered unexpectedly into the service industry, from waiting tables to tending bar at private events, reveling in the social interactions that contrasted with the solitude of lab work.

Feeling uncertain about his aspirations, a move to California ensued. While working at Radio Shack, he enrolled in business courses at Santa Barbara City College, reigniting a dormant passion for entrepreneurship. The epiphany struck—dentistry, with its blend of clinical practice and entrepreneurialism, aligned with his newfound vision. Thus, he embarked on dental school at NYU College of Dentistry in New York City, embracing the comprehensive education it offered.

Post-graduation, longing to escape the harsh winters, David returned to Florida, intending to succeed his father's practice in Orlando. Yet, Tampa captured his heart. Settling in downtown Tampa, he witnessed the city's transformative growth. Exploring newfound interests like running along the Riverwalk and indulging in live music, he became a patron of the local radio station's Friday spotlight show hosted by his friend Ken Apperson and a proud sponsor of the Gasparilla Music Festival.

Taking over Dr. Michael Kantor's dental office in 2014 solidified his ties to Tampa. His current office on Cypress, established in 2019, not only expanded his practice but also led him to meet his wife, Rachel, during the move. Despite initially living in Charleston, SC, they navigated a long-distance relationship until circumstances brought them together during the COVID pandemic. Welcoming their son, Benjamin Zev, in 2022, David now prioritizes fatherhood. Balancing parental responsibilities, he still tends to his fish tanks and enjoys exploring new culinary experiences alongside Rachel, both avid members of various wine clubs.
