As you may already know, eating disorders can destroy your entire body, including your smile. So, the first thing you need to do is work toward quitting the habit. That way you can return to a strong and healthy body and smile. Until then, it’s important to keep your oral health in tip-top shape. To help you, our Generations Cosmetic and Family Dentistry dental team has some tips for you.

First, keep up on oral hygiene. You can do so by brushing your teeth twice a day (every morning and every night) and by flossing your smile at least once a day, preferably at night when you’re done eating for the day. We also encourage you to rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash. The rinse will nourish and strengthen your teeth as well as complete the smile-cleaning job.

Second, rinse your mouth. After throwing up, even though it might be tempting, please do not brush your teeth. Brushing will only further erode the enamel. Instead, rinse your mouth with baking soda to neutralize the effects of the acid in the bile.

Third, see Dr. David Goldschein. It’s very important that you visit him every six months. The appointments will allow our team to deeply clean your smile and prevent as many dental issues as possible.
